I responded to an invitation on the Crop Circle Connector forum to produce some formation designs. This one took 20 minutes (including creating the perspective view in Photoshop),

I estimated it would take about 2 man-hours to set out and lay down.  The response from an experienced circlemaker was that it would take 2 people 30-45 minutes. Could be. Consider that walking at a normal pace covers 6ft per second. So an open circle radius 20 ft (40 ft across) takes just 2 minutes to walk out.

This took about 15 minutes to design. It incorporates ellipses and segments of circles.  I estimate it would take 1 - 1.5 hours for 2 people to make.
