Sound, vibration and microwave effects, and possible links to crop circles
And other General Science links.
Really interesting sites in red.
Crop Circle Connector forum: From 'peaceful':
Olivia, your posting led me to the following website on resonance.
microwave is a serious avenue of crop circle research and its effects on crops. it has also always seemed to me that, pertaining to crop circle formation, resonance could explain how one could get an ordered something out of random scatter instantaneously as illustrated in the video below (amazing, yes?).
physics isn't my first subject so for me a good starting point on this website is Nassim Haramein's layman's article listed under research - i'll dust off the old physics books and get back to you on the rest - very interesting on page 4 of that article Haramein states that he uses, among other things, "in-depth studies of ancient symbols and esoteric schools of thoughts" to help develop a theory - which might ultimately lead to Einstein's much relished grand unification theory. Wow!
another interesting 'power' of sound (levitating this ant via ultrasound vibrations) I don't know guys, it kind of conjures up images of cows and space ships to me... c'mon, relax you minds a little...smile.
Crop Circle Connector forum:
From 'peaceful': let me list some of this season's crop
circles which might encompass 'sound' as a theme
first Barbury castle snail - could be interpreted as first ring of a cochlea (inner ear)
you can see that similar spiral at the top of this west overton pic below
next the 'concentric ring' formations which may relate to standing wave patterns or the doppler effect
since my knowledge of physics is about at this level
i have to leave it to the physicists to sort out these last two formations which i think may be more complex applications of the sound wave phenomenon
(for that last formation look at steve alexander's image - it looks visually like it is 'fanning up' from the circle at the base and like there is 'hidden' or redundant information along the central axis of the 'fan')
the website below has a lot of 3-D images which match up well to some of the circles i mentioned
anyone with a higher knowledge of physics or more intuitive eyes is welcome to expand on (and take credit for!) any of my ideas
finally, if you all will bear with me there may be at least two formations which have sound in terms of explosive warfare as a theme
interestingly the center design in both formations resembles a 12 point islamic star pattern and the outer portion of boxley alludes to 12 'star of david' designs. Both these formations occurred before july 12th when conflict officially broke out between israel and lebanon with lebanon getting the bulk of building destruction

Electric fields can Speed up Healing (New Scientist 29.7.06)
It may sound like something out of Frankenstein, but electric currents applied to the skin could potentially speed up wound healing. Ironically, though the phenomenon was reported 150 years ago by the German physiologist Emil Du Bois-Reymond, it has been ignored ever since.

Even if quantum computers can be made to work, there will still be two big obstacles preventing quantum networks becoming a reality. First, quantum bits, or qubits, stored in matter will have to be transferred to photons to be transmitted over long distances. Secondly, errors that creep in during transmission have to be corrected. Two unrelated studies have now shown how to clear these hurdles.
Beaming people in Star Trek fashion is still in the realms of science fiction but physicists in Denmark have teleported information from light to matter bringing quantum communication and computing closer to reality. Until now scientists have teleported similar objects such as light or single atoms over short distances from one spot to another in a split second. But Professor Eugene Polzik and his team at the Niels Bohr Institute at Copenhagen University in Denmark have made a breakthrough by using both light and matter.
