The samples were taken from flattened areas, not close to tramlines. Note that the bends are downwards, This can be seen in the video clips. Some angles were in excess of 90 degrees.
This is the opposite to the effect on crop which has been naturally flattened by tractors, wind etc, and then left to grow upwards. I found some occasional instances of the latter on the very edge of the field, next to the bare ground areas, but none in the vicinity of the circle.
